Chief Deputy Damian C. Gatlin brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his role at the Pike County Sheriff’s Office. A proud alumni of McComb High School graduating in 1997.  Also, a proud Alumnus of Jackson State University from 1997 to 2000, he participated in the renowned Sonic Boom of the South, showcasing his commitment to teamwork and excellence from an early age.
Gatlin's law enforcement journey began in 2008 when he started as a dispatcher at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Demonstrating a strong work ethic and a passion for serving his community, Gatlin quickly transitioned to a Deputy position within the same year. By 2009, he was certified in Pearl at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Training Academy, laying a solid foundation for his future in law enforcement.
In 2010, recognizing his potential, Chief Deputy Gatlin advanced to the Investigations unit, where he excelled and was promoted to Master Sergeant of Investigations after two years. His investigative skills were complemented by his role on Lincoln County’s Special Response Team (SRT), where he contributed to high-stakes operations and rescues. Additionally, he shared his knowledge as an instructor for the Basic Investigations Class during Lincoln County’s part-time academy, mentoring the next generation of law enforcement professionals.
In 2018, at the age of just 39, Chief Deputy Gatlin made history as the youngest person to be appointed Chief of Police in the City of McComb. This significant achievement took place in his own backyard of White Acres, where he grew up as a child, further deepening his connection to the community he serves.  While serving at the McComb Police Department, in the back yard of White Acres, Chief Gatlin took pride in showing local youth that, much like the scripture that references Jesus asking, "Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?" good things can also emerge from White Acres. Under his leadership, he honed his skills and reinforced his commitment to community safety.
By July 2020, he transitioned to the 14th Judicial District Attorney's Office as an investigator, where his responsibilities included investigating felonies, gathering evidence, supporting prosecutors, being a liaison between local agencies and the 14th District attorney’s Office, while preparing for court appearances. His role required a keen understanding of the law and the ability to enforce it effectively, as he often operated as a sworn peace officer with arrest authority.
In 2023, Gatlin was approached by Sheriff Wally Jones to serve as Chief Deputy of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.  He accepted the invitation, motivated by a desire to enhance the safety and well-being of the Pike County community.  The Community that he loved was raised in and eager to make a better place.  On January 1, 2024, Damian C. Gatlin became the Chief Deputy of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.
