STOLEN VEHICLE PURSUIT ENDS IN ARREST 🚨 PIKE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI — August 8, 2026

Just after 5:00 a.m. this morning, deputies with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office assisted the McComb Police Department in locating a vehicle that had been reported stolen from within the City of McComb.

After the vehicle was located and positively identified, the driver refused to stop and led deputies and officers on a vehicle pursuit throughout Pike County before eventually entering back into the City of McComb.

During the pursuit, Pike County Sheriff’s Office deputies successfully deployed spike strips in an effort to slow and safely bring the vehicle to a stop.

As the pursuit continued onto Park Drive, a Pike County Sheriff’s Office deputy performed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI), commonly referred to as a PIT maneuver, bringing the pursuit to an end.

Marquez Monley of McComb was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Pike County Jail.

Sheriff Bryant Wally Jones would like to thank the deputies of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office and officers of the McComb Police Department for their teamwork and coordination in bringing this pursuit to a safe conclusion.

STATEMENT FROM SHERIFF BRYANT WALLY JONES:
“Once again, I want to send a message to the criminal element that apparently still does not understand: we are tough on crime in Pike County.

If you want to bring the silliness here, you can expect to face the full consequences of your actions. And if you decide you want to run from deputies of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, understand that we are going to take the first safe opportunity available to bring that pursuit to an end.

Our deputies are trained to use the tools and tactics available to them, including spike strips and tactical vehicle interventions, when circumstances allow. We are not going to allow someone fleeing from law enforcement to unnecessarily endanger innocent motorists, our citizens, or our deputies.

If the safest opportunity to stop you puts you in the ditch, then that’s where the pursuit is going to end. Don’t run.”

All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
