Sunday, May 3, 2026 - Saturday, May 9, 2026

This week was established to highlight the critical role correctional officers play in maintaining safety, security, and order within jails and prisons. It also serves as an opportunity for communities and law enforcement agencies to show appreciation for a job that often goes unnoticed but carries significant responsibility and risk.

Across the U.S., agencies use this observance to bring attention to the challenges correctional officers face daily, from managing inmate populations to ensuring secure facility operations, while also fostering rehabilitation effort.
