🚨 PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE — ACTIVE SHOOTER/CAMPUS INTRUDER DRILL 🚨

Dear Pike County Citizens,

On Monday, September 14, 2026, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, the South Pike School District along with other local law enforcement agencies and Emergency Medical Services, will be conducting an Active Shooter/Campus Intruder Drill at Osyka Elementary School.

During this training exercise, citizens may observe a large police and emergency response presence in and around the school. Please do not be alarmed. This is a planned training exercise and there is no actual emergency.

These exercises are an important part of our ongoing commitment to keeping Pike County—and especially our children—safe. Training together with our law enforcement, emergency medical services, school districts, and community partners helps ensure that we are prepared to respond effectively should a real emergency ever occur.

We sincerely appreciate your patience, cooperation, and understanding as our public safety professionals conduct this important training.

Your safety—and the safety of our children—is our #1 priority.
