Pike County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center Baptismal Ceremony
Thursday, March 19, 2026
We are pleased to announce a Baptismal Ceremony held at the Pike County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. This meaningful event was conducted by Chaplain Brother Doug Hughes, a member of First Baptist Church of Summit.
During the ceremony, Brother Doug also presented the inmate with a Bible, symbolizing the beginning of a new spiritual journey.
A special thank you to the inmate’s grandmother, who attended the ceremony and shared in this significant and heartfelt moment.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office Leadership Team for supporting this amazing and life-changing event. Your commitment to not only public safety, but also to the rehabilitation and spiritual well-being of those in your care, is truly commendable.
May this new chapter bring transformation, hope, and renewed purpose to the inmate and serve as a powerful example of God’s grace at work.
“The Pike County Detention Center staff and myself desire to provide an environment for inmates that encourages and supports their rehabilitation and spiritual growth.”
— Major Jewel Hines, Pike County Detention Center Administrator
“Again, I made a promise to the citizens of Pike County that I would do everything that I could to help rebuild our county to safety. This Baptism is a part of that promise.”
— Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones
