As deputies attempted to take the suspect into custody, the suspect fled in a vehicle, leading deputies on a pursuit.

The pursuit began in the Pleasant Grove community of Pike County and continued into the City of McComb. While traveling on White Boulevard, the suspect intentionally struck a Pike County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot south from the scene.

Deputies have since established a perimeter around a nearby residence. K-9 units and the Pike County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team are actively assisting in the operation, and investigators are in the process of obtaining a search warrant for the residence.

Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones stated, “We have reason to believe the suspect is inside the residence. At this time, we do not believe there is any danger to the public. We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as our deputies work to bring this situation to a safe conclusion.”

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Pike County Sheriff’s Office immediately. Additional updates will be provided as the investigation continues.

The Percy Dillon Legacy Award will be presented to individuals who exemplify the same outstanding qualities of service, character, dependability, and dedication that Mr. Dillon has demonstrated throughout his distinguished career. The award recognizes those who leave a lasting impact through faithful service, exceptional leadership, and an unwavering commitment to others.

“Mr. Percy Dillon represents the very best of public service,” said Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones. “His loyalty, work ethic, and servant’s heart have earned the respect of everyone who has had the privilege of working alongside him. Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones was honored to welcome Lead Pastor Larry LeBlanc, the Ladies of the Prison Ministry, members of the leadership team of First Baptist Church Summit, and members of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office Leadership Team for a special baptismal ceremony at the Pike County Detention Center.

During the service, Lead Pastor Larry LeBlanc personally conducted the baptismal ceremony, as three inmates publicly professed their faith in Jesus Christ through baptism. The ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter of hope, transformation, and spiritual renewal in their lives.

Sheriff Jones extends his sincere appreciation to Major Jewel Hines, Detention Center Administrator, and Warden Herbert Young for their outstanding leadership and their unwavering commitment to providing opportunities that encourage rehabilitation and positive life change. Their dedication reflects the belief that every individual deserves the opportunity to turn their life around and become a productive member of society.

Sheriff Jones also expresses heartfelt gratitude to Lead Pastor Larry LeBlanc, the Ladies of the Prison Ministry, and the entire congregation of First Baptist Church Summit for their faithful service and continued partnership with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.

The donated supplies will be distributed to local schools, ensuring that students have the essential tools they need to learn, grow, and succeed in the classroom.

The breakfast was more than a meal—it was a heartfelt expression of appreciation for the deputies, dispatchers, detention officers, administrative staff, investigators, and every employee who faithfully serves the citizens of Pike County each day. Sheriff Jones believes that the success of the Sheriff’s Office is built on the commitment, professionalism, and sacrifice of its employees, and he wanted each member of the team to know that their hard work does not go unnoticed.

“The men and women of this agency are the backbone of our mission,” Sheriff Jones shared. “They serve with courage, integrity, and compassion, often making personal sacrifices to protect our communities. This breakfast is one small way of saying thank you for your dedication and your unwavering commitment to public service.”
