The Pike County Sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer of the county and is elected to a four-year term. Additional duties and responsibilities of the sheriff include the chief officer of the chancery and circuit courts, maintenance of the county law library and courthouse, and housing and protection of prisoners.
 
About Our Sheriff
 
Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones has nearly 16 years of law enforcement experience and has dedicated his life to serving the citizens of McComb and Pike County.
 
He began his career with the McComb Police Department as a patrol officer. Throughout his tenure, Sheriff Jones served in several leadership roles, including Sergeant, Patrol Supervisor, SWAT Team Commander, and Commander of the Neighborhood Enforcement Unit. He was also instrumental in organizing the “Every 15 Minutes” program, an impactful educational initiative for juniors and seniors in Pike County Schools. In addition, he served with Partners in Education for the McComb School District, providing security support and contributing to the “We Want More” campaign.
 
Sheriff Jones also served as a lead agent with the Southwest Mississippi Narcotics Enforcement Agency, where he led multiple major investigations. In recognition of his dedication and outstanding service, he was voted McComb Police Department Officer of the Year in 2017.
 
His career further includes service as a Patrol Supervisor with the McComb Police Department, a Detective with the Walthall County Sheriff’s Office, and Chief Medical Examiner Investigator for Pike County.
 
In addition, Sheriff Jones made history as the youngest known elected Coroner in the State of Mississippi.
