PIKE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AERIAL INTELLIGENCE UNIT

Mission

The Pike County Sheriff’s Office Aerial Intelligence Unit is part of the Special Operations Division and uses drones to provide crucial aerial perspectives that aid in responding to emergencies, investigating crimes, and locating missing persons.

The Aerial Intelligence Unit provides support for :

Fugitive apprehension

Search and Rescue

Crime Scene documentation

Crash Reconstruction

Special Response Team operations

Assisting other agencies

K9 operations

Special Events

The Aerial Intelligence Unit consists of three operators. The Unit utilizes four drones, one of which, a DJI Avata 2, is assigned to the Special Response Unit for use indoors. The other drones used by the Aerial Intelligence Unit are a DJI Matrice 30T, a DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise, and a DJI Mavic 3 Thermal.
