Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones and the Pike County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our sincere appreciation to every law enforcement agency, fire department, emergency responder, and supporting agency that graciously participated in and supported last week’s Active Shooter/Intruder Training Drill at Osyka Elementary School.

This important training exercise was about one thing: PREPARATION.
Our children, teachers, school employees, and communities deserve first responders who are prepared to respond quickly, effectively, and together when faced with an emergency.

We are especially grateful for the agencies that took time away from their daily responsibilities to come together, train together, communicate together, and strengthen our ability to respond as ONE TEAM.

Your participation, professionalism, dedication, and willingness to work alongside the Pike County Sheriff’s Office are deeply appreciated.

When agencies work together, our communities are stronger and better prepared.

To every officer, deputy, firefighter, emergency responder, dispatcher, school official, and support personnel who helped make this training exercise possible:

THANK YOU for answering the call and for your continued commitment to protecting and serving the people of Pike County.
We also thank the Town of Osyka, Osyka Elementary School, school personnel, students, parents, and the community for their cooperation and understanding during this important training exercise.

Preparation saves lives. Teamwork strengthens communities.

With sincere appreciation,

Dear Pike County Residents,

As we head into the weekend, I want to remind everyone that your safety is my team’s #1 priority.

Whether you are traveling, attending a community event, supporting our local schools and athletes at sporting events, spending time with family and friends, or simply enjoying the weekend at home, please take a few extra moments to make safety a priority.

• 🚗 Buckle up and make sure all passengers are properly restrained.
• 🏈 If attending a sporting event, watch out for children, follow parking and traffic directions, and be respectful of players, coaches, officials, and fellow spectators.

• 🍺 Never drink and drive. Designate a sober driver or make other arrangements.
• 📱 Put the phone down and keep your eyes on the road.
• 🏡 Secure your home, vehicles, and valuables before leaving.
• 👀 Stay aware of your surroundings and report suspicious activity.
• 🌙 Slow down and use extra caution at night, especially on rural roads.
• 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Keep an eye on our children and young people and know where they are.

Most importantly, look out for one another. A safe community is built when citizens and law enforcement work together.

On behalf of the men and women of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, I wish everyone a safe, peaceful, and enjoyable weekend.
Your safety is my team’s #1 priority.

Thank you for working with Us!

On Sunday, September 13, 2026, deputies with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office responded to Hollow Drive near Highway 98 East in reference to a reported disturbance and drive-by shooting.

While deputies were en route, witnesses provided information indicating that a silver Cadillac was believed to be involved in the shooting. A - Be On the Lookout - was immediately issued to surrounding law enforcement agencies for the vehicle.

A short time later, officers with the McComb Police Department located the suspects vehicle. Officers conducted a traffic stop.

During the investigation, officers determined that the occupants were believed to be involved in the reported shooting.

Six individuals—three males and three females, ranging in age from 18 to 27—were taken into custody. All six individuals were not from the Pike County Area.

One rifle and one pistol were also recovered from the vehicle.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are pending as investigators continue working the case.

Sheriff Bryant Wally Jones would like to personally thank the McComb Police Department for their quick response and assistance in locating the vehicle.

Sheriff Jones would also like to recognize the deputies and investigators of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office for the outstanding job they have done throughout this weekend.

Two shootings in one weekend, and ALL suspects are in custody.

Sheriff Jones also has a clear message for individuals who choose to come into Pike County from other areas and commit violent crimes:
Stay in your cities.

If your intention is to come into Pike County and act foolish, commit violent crimes, or endanger our citizens, you are not welcome here. If you choose to do it anyway, understand that our deputies and investigators will work relentlessly to find you, arrest you, and hold you accountable.

We will continue working alongside our municipal and surrounding law enforcement partners to protect the citizens of Pike County. Criminal activity does not stop at city or county lines, and neither does our commitment to holding those responsible accountable.

Dear Pike County Citizens,

On Monday, September 14, 2026, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, the South Pike School District along with other local law enforcement agencies and Emergency Medical Services, will be conducting an Active Shooter/Campus Intruder Drill at Osyka Elementary School.
